Mayor Kevin Johnson is asking you to be the change in your community and join the Mayor’s Volunteer Challenge. In 2010, we set the goal of 3 million hours of service, which was not only met but surpassed. This year, we want every person in the region to give just 12 hours of his or her time.

Last year, 27% of the residents of our region report that they volunteered, according to the Volunteering In America Census. This year, our goal is 34% reporting that they volunteered in 2011. If we achieve this goal, we can be rated amongst the top 5 Most Caring Regions in the Nation!

Getting involved is easy to do. Simply find an area of need and start volunteering your time! By directing your volunteering in the region’s priority areas of need, we can make an even bigger, more focused impact. Think about that… Just a little of your time to give a lot back to your community.
