Internship and Fellowship Program
The Mayor's Internship and Fellowship Program is an initiative to help talented students gain public sector experience and make a positive impact in the Sacramento community. The program’s mission is to inspire future leaders to make public service integral to their personal and professional goals. The program creates unique and formative experiences centered around three areas: Leadership (build advocacy, project management, communication, and ethical leadership skills), Learning (integrate quickly into a dynamic work environment to “learn by doing,” and Service (Cultivate a lifelong sense of civic duty, service learning and volunteerism).
Top candidates possess:
- Strong interest in public service/public policy
- Demonstrated record of achievement
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
- Strong computer proficiency

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
(College & High School)
Description
Interns work with constituent affairs, executive support, communications, and outreach teams.
Eligibility
- College students & exceptional high school juniors and seniors
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Available minimum 15 hours/week for 8 weeks
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
(Graduate School)
Description
Fellows develop innovative policy ideas, and support major initiatives and community events.
Eligibility
- Graduate students (MBA, MPP, JD preferred)
- Available minimum 20 hours/week for 8 weeks
- Stipends may be available (Sac State & UC Davis)
